Aeration prevents winter and summer fish kills due to a lack of oxygen, but it also fosters the growth of larger and healthier fish, allowing for more fish to inhabit the pond. Additionally, it can help prevent muck build-up, combat aquatic growth, and clarify the water.

Unlike fountains, diffused aeration can operate throughout the winter, preventing the pond from being fully covered by ice, which greatly benefits your fish. However, if you enjoy activities on the ice, there's no need to worry; you can also turn off the aeration system throughout the winter. Furthermore, it requires practically no maintenance.
